Miso AV Lab Privacy Policy

Effective September 15, 2026

Who we are

Miso AV Lab is made by Misoservices Inc., a small company in Saint-Basile-le-Grand, Québec. You can write to us at CP 1023, Saint-Basile-le-Grand, Québec J3N 1M5, Canada, or by email at ms.support@misoservices.com. Our help desk is at https://misoservices.com/misoavlab/help-desk/, and the app has a home page at https://misoservices.com/misoavlab/. This policy lives at https://misoservices.com/misoavlab/privacy-policy/, and what you’re reading is the current version.

What the app does

Miso AV Lab plays test tones and shows test patterns so you can check a TV, projector, speaker, or AV receiver. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, and it does all of that on your device. There’s no server on our end for it to talk to, which makes for a fairly short privacy policy.

What we don’t collect

Miso AV Lab doesn’t ask you to create an account or sign in. There are no ads in it, no analytics, and no third-party SDK quietly collecting data in the background. It is interested in your subwoofer, not in you.

Microphone and camera

The app uses neither your microphone nor your camera today. A future version might, for tests only: listening to your speakers from where you sit, for example. What the microphone or camera picks up would be analyzed on your device and not sent to us, your device would ask for your permission first, and this page would say so before that version ships.

If you’re wondering who might be listening in your living room, your TV’s automatic content recognition and other smart features are a better place to start than a small company in Québec.

Settings and favourites

Your settings, favourites and presets stay on your device. We don’t see any of it. Delete the app and they’re gone, unless they happen to be sitting in your own device backup, which Apple looks after on its own terms.

Purchases

Miso AV Lab is a paid app with one in-app purchase, Full Catalogue. Apple handles both from start to finish, so we never see your card number or billing details. What Apple sends us is anonymous sales totals by region: enough to tell us how the app is doing, not who bought it.

Crash reports and usage statistics

If you’ve turned on Share With App Developers in your device settings, Apple forwards us crash reports and usage statistics through App Store Connect and Xcode Organizer. Apple anonymizes them first. A crash report tells us what went wrong in the app, not who you are, where you are or which device it came from. We use them only to track down bugs. The setting is yours, under Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, and turning it off changes nothing in the app.

If you write to us

Writing to us, by email or through the help desk, gets us your address and whatever you told us. We use it to answer you, and we keep it. If you write again, we can pick up where we left off instead of asking you to explain everything twice. We like having a real conversation with the people who take the time to write. If you’d rather we delete that correspondence, ask and we will.

Children

Miso AV Lab isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t collect information from children. We don’t collect it from adults either, unless they write to us.

Who sees your information

Nobody, beyond what’s already described above: Apple, for purchases and for the statistics you choose to share. We don’t sell your information, rent it out, or hand it to anyone else for their own use.

Your rights

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. Sophie Daher, President of Misoservices, is responsible for the protection of personal information. You can reach her at ms.support@misoservices.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Crash reports and sales reports reach us through Apple’s services, which may store them outside Québec and Canada. Apple anonymizes both before we see them, so even if we wanted to connect one to a particular person, we couldn’t. Emails and help desk requests are different: they identify you, and the rights above apply to them in full.

If you’re in the European Union or the European Economic Area, the GDPR applies as well. The personal data we hold is the correspondence you send us. We keep it on the basis of our legitimate interest in following up with you, and you can ask for a copy of it or its deletion at the same address.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll post the update here with a new date at the top.
